Feature & Fact

Often described as floating butterflies cyclamen have very appealing flowers which crown just above the foliage. The flowers (butterflies) have an upside down appearance  in a tapestry of bright colors including white, pink, purple and it is this unique feature that sets this product apart from the rest. It is a genus of 20 species of flowering plants traditionally classified in the family Primulaceae but in recent years reclassified in the family Myrsinaceae. Native to Mediterranean regions from Spain, east to Iran and also in northeast Africa and south to Somalia.

They are perennial with a surface or ground corm at the base, they feature variegated leaves with a pale silvery horseshoe shaped round markings. It is believed these markings were design to camouflage the plant and prevent damage from grazing animals. Cyclamen are best grown in and under shrubby areas where they are protected from direct sunlight and shaded by other plants. These make great indoor plants for around 4-6 weeks when first purchased and could then be moved to the garden to enjoy for years to come.

You can be sure when you purchase one of our products you are investing years of experience, development and expertise and that the best products available have been selected for you.

Care

Cyclamen are very simple plants to keep in the home or garden requiring little attention. Our Cyclamen are pre-conditioned for each season and will perform for you in a home or garden. Cyclamen should also be kept well clear for heating or cooling vents and high air flow areas within the home. They will cycle back into there normal seasonal growing patterns once it has experienced its first winter, although trails have proven they can be grown year round without drying out the corm and flower from season to season if placed under the optimum growing conditions. Cyclamen prefer a well drained soil, not to wet so they do not become soggy, but not left to dry out. Watering 2-3 times a week is optimum depending on the season and a liquid fertilizer every 3-4 watering will benefit the plant.

We recommend enjoying your product inside the home for the first 4-6 weeks and then plant into the garden. It is best to acclimatize the product after being in the home and slowly get it used to outdoor conditions using slow steps like placing them under the Patio for a week or so before placing into the garden. Cyclamen cannot handle intense direct sunlight and like to be placed at the base or around other shrubs where it can be protected from the direct sun and be kept cool by shade form other plants. Remove dead flowers by twisting the stem and pulling upwards. If you decide to leave you Cyclamen in pots they can be dried out by placed on there sides during summer and standing them up again towards the end of January and watering well, you should start to see new growth within weeks.
